Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the CorpusLab platform, whether you take part in studies or run them. The Privacy notice and the Rules complete them.
Version of 19 July 2026.
Who we are
CorpusLab is operated by Noé De Rijck, based in Brussels, Belgium. You can reach us at privacy@corpuslab.be or, once signed in, via the Support page.
What CorpusLab is (and is not)
CorpusLab connects academic research teams with people willing to take part in their studies: researchers publish studies and sessions, participants find and book them. The platform handles booking, reminders, attendance verification, messaging and ratings.
The studies themselves are designed, run and remain the sole responsibility of their research teams. We are not a party to what happens during a session, and sessions take place outside the platform, in person.
Using the platform is free for participants and researchers.
Your account
You must be 18 or older to create an account, provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Your account is personal: keep your password to yourself and don't lend the account to anyone. One account per person.
We can suspend or deactivate accounts as described in the Rules — automatically for attendance infractions (always temporary), or by an administrator for serious or repeated misconduct.
Rules of conduct
The Rules — cancellation windows, attendance verification, automatic penalties, rating conduct — are part of these terms. Participants accept the reliability commitments the first time they book a session; researchers accept the researcher rules when they create their account.
Compensation
Compensation for taking part in a study is advertised, arranged and handed out by that study's research team. The platform never holds or transfers this money and is not a party to the compensation arrangement between you and the research team.
If advertised compensation doesn't arrive, report it via “Report an issue” on My bookings: we follow up with the research team and can sanction accounts, but we cannot pay or guarantee payment on a research team's behalf.
Researcher obligations
Researchers must hold whatever ethics approval their study requires, describe studies and compensation accurately, run the sessions they schedule, and use participant data only to run their study, as set out in the Privacy notice.
Liability
The platform is provided “as is”: we work to keep it available and correct but don't warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the extent permitted by mandatory law, we are not liable for what happens during or around sessions, for interactions conducted off the platform, or for indirect damage. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Belgian law.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your profile; the Privacy notice describes what happens to your data. Deleting an account while a penalty is active doesn't erase the penalty, and re-registering with the same identity to evade it is not allowed.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we make a material change, the version date above changes and signed-in users are shown a notice to acknowledge the next time they use the platform; continuing to use the platform after a change means the updated terms apply.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes belong to the courts of Brussels, without prejudice to venue rules that mandatorily protect consumers. Raise any problem first via the Support page — most are resolved there.
